Eisai Inc. hhc Pharmacy Recognition Award

Pharmacists play a very important role in the Eisai mission by ensuring that patients and caregivers receive appropriate medications and counseling regarding treatment. Pharmacists are an informed, respected community-based health care resource. Eisai treats them as strategic and accessible partners and customers in the delivery of quality health care, and we share a common mission - to improve the lives of patients and their families.

In recognition of the contribution that pharmacists make to healthcare and their important commitment to patients, Eisai, in conjunction with Drug Topics, developed the human health care Pharmacy Recognition Award. The award was established to recognize pharmacists who work in their communities to provide quality care and improve the lives of Alzheimer's patients and their loved ones.

Eisai and Drug Topics recognize three pharmacists annually who have implemented initiatives that have enhanced the quality of care of Alzheimer's patients - either directly or indirectly - or have improved the competencies of caregivers or health care providers. Nominations are solicited annually from late fall until summer. Winners are announced and the awards are presented in November (Alzheimer's Awareness Month).

Below is a link to the hhc Pharmacist Recognition Award nomination form. For more information, please call Sean Spears, senior director, Pharmacy and Trade Relations at Eisai (201-746-2802).

Eisai Inc. sees pharmacists as strategic partners and customers in the delivery of quality health care. To that end, Eisai sponsors Continuing Medical Education programs for pharmacists to enhance their professional skills and knowledge about the diseases which Eisai products treat.

Eisai Inc. also provides educational and counseling literature for healthcare professionals to assist in educating patients and their families about diseases and available treatments.

In 2003, the American Pharmacists Association introduced a new patient education brochure titled, "Caring for a Loved One Who Has Alzheimer's Disease," which is available in English and Spanish. This brochure was developed by the APhA and the National Professional Society of Pharmacists through an educational grant from Eisai Inc. It can be purchased from www.pharmacist.com or viewed on www.aphanet.org or www.pharmacyandyou.org.
